London's Trains, Tubes and Buses all go Contactless From September

By Gary Cutlack on at

Transport for London is bringing the contactless payment option to its entire network this September, after a successful trial run on the buses and a smaller test on some tube lines. From September 16th, all tube, overground, DLR and bus routes will let you tap with a contactless card to pay.

As with the old Oyster system, tapping in and out at stations and stops makes the system generate the best deal for your trip, with daily travel caps and a new "Monday to Sunday" option that calculates the best value fare over the course of a week. Just be wary of "card clash" when waving your heaving, NFC wallet at the sensor, as you don't want to get in a mess and make people behind you hate you.
