Crossrail Extension Could Cut Journey Times Into London by 15 Minutes

The government has today announced plans to potentially extend the Crossrail system out to Hertfordshire, which could cut journey times into London from the area by 15 minutes.

Passengers travelling from Hemel Hempstead, Watford Junction and Tring could be connected to the new network by 2020. Taking commuter belt passengers directly to Crossrail stations at Bond Street, Liverpool Street and Canary Wharf, the extension would take the strain off Euston station while its HS2 hub is being built, as well as reducing the number of passengers overcrowding connecting Northern line and Victoria line underground services. The news comes in addition to confirmed plans to extend the Crossrail service to Reading back in March. [BBC]
