Lincolnshire Police are reporting that a military aircraft has crashed in a field in Broadgate, Weston Hills, near Spalding.
Emergency services were contacted at 3.30pm, but as the incident has occurred in an isolated rural area, no people or premises are thought to have been affected. Even the pilot is A-OK, which is good news.
Online speculation is suggesting it could be a US Forces jet although this has yet to be confirmed and the Police are not commenting further at this time. We'll keep you posted.
The BBC has confirmed that the downed jet is indeed an F-15 fighter. The pilot is said to have ejected (suffering only minor injuries), with the craft hailing from the 48th Fighter Wing based at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk. The crash occurred during a training exercise, and was said to have caused a "fireball" around the crash site.
