3D Printed Lacelamps Project a Web of Patterns Around Your Home

By Gerald Lynch on at

The days of throwing a tie-dyed silk handkerchief over a lampshade to add a bit of atmosphere to your drab flat are drawing to a close. It's all about casting 3D printed shade over your walls now.

Artists Linlin and Pierre-Yves Jacques have created a range of 3D-printed "Lacelamps" that replicate the sorts of patterns you might find in a doily, and throw them over your walls, projected by the bulb behind them. Both a table lamp and hanging lamp have been made and could, feasibly, be kitted out with user-made patterns should you tire of the original ones. [LPJacques via Laughing Squid]
