Japan Sneaks 2015 Best Whisky Award

By Gary Cutlack on at

A Japanese whisky going by the name Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013 has been declared the drink to drink, winning the top prize in the World Whisky Bible.

There are no Scottish blends in the top five, with whisky enthusiast Jim Murray saying the Japanese dram has a "near indescribable genius" and scoring it 97.5 out of 100. It costs around £100 a bottle, though, so we'll stick with the SPAR own-brand stuff, which delivers the same goods but in a less subtle manner. [Telegraph]
