How an Indie Record Label Nearly Nabbed the Ukip Website

By Gary Cutlack on at

An independent record label claims it was the first in line to buy the seemingly expired Ukip site domain yesterday, shortly after the internet was set a-laughing by the political party's apparent failure to renew its hosting.

According to tweets posted by Alcopop! Records, it put £168.73 toward buying the domain name yesterday, and although an order confirmation was issued by name registrar Go Daddy, the domain was ultimately returned to its previous owners.

DNS record errors are currently being blamed for the Ukip site's continued disappearance. [Alcopop! Records via Noisey]
