Welsh Farmers Sticking Wi-Fi on Sheep for No Discernible Reason

By Gary Cutlack on at

Researchers want to build an Internet of Animals, by fitting trackers to the sheep of Welsh farmers to help locate their flocks and answer vague environmental questions about where they do most of their wees.

The researchers claim it'll be useful to know where sheep congregate, and will help the farmer know where they all are when the weather is bad and he wants to stay in bed on his tablet all day, but the man running the test farm doesn't seem too convinced by these youngsters and their hotspots.

"There's nothing like looking at a sheep", claims farmer Gareth Jones, who seems to be mostly humouring the researchers and their technological solutions to problems he doesn't appear to have. [BBC]
