Halo 5: Guardians has to be the Xbox One's most anticipated game, revealed as a teaser at the console's launch back in May 2013, with its multiplayer beta giving series fans itchy trigger fingers.

Finally, we've got an official release date for the game -- it's now set to hit the Xbox One on October 27th of this year. Probably a little later into the Autumnal launch window than many had hoped, but sitting just in time to pick up a buzz before that pre-Christmas game buying rush kicks in.

So, a seven month wait lies ahead of you. What have you got to tide you over in the meantime? Well, the Xbox One's Halo: The Master Chief Collection for starters, pulling together remastered editions of Halo one through four, out there and slowly improving after a patchy start. There's a promo tumblr blog with cryptic teases and and video clips. There's also the not-as-good-as-the-people-involved-with-it Halo: Nightfall TV show too, which acts to bring you up to speed before Halo 5 lands.

And finally, accompanying the news, is a brand new trailer too, which you can find embedded below. The old Master Chief is looking a little worse for wear here, huh?
