Chinese Death Simulator Lets You Live Out Your Crematorium Fantasies

By Gary Cutlack on at

A theme park in the Chinese city of Shenzhen is apparently offering the chance to enjoy a "ride" in which you pretend to be dead, having heaps of fun in a live simulation of a cremation in which YOU are the corpse.

The claim is made in Motherboard, which says that such "death simulators" are all the rage in China. Or, at least, there's one of them in a Shenzhen attraction, in which customers can pay the equivalent of £26 to play a game that has the ultimate penalty of (pretend) death for losing.

Those who fail the challenges and die are stuffed into a box that passes through a tunnel while being heated to a temperature of around 40 degrees, to experience something akin to what it's like to be cremated -- albeit not quite so hot and without so many sad people watching you go through the hatch.

It is, apparently, part of an attraction at the Window of the World amusement park, where, once dead and burned up, you may then be reborn by coming back into the world through a giant uterus, free from whatever ills you suffered in your previous life. [Motherboard via Metro]
