It’s happened again. Yet another UK company has been involved in a big security scare, with British Gas following TalkTalk and M&S into the naughty books.
The energy company’s used to dealing with dangerous leaks, though not usually the digital kind. Over 2,000 customer email addresses and passwords briefly appeared online this week, though the company insists its systems are secure and that no bank details are at risk.
"A small number of customer details briefly appeared online but our systems are secure," replied British Gas Help to a concerned customer on Twitter. The firm also says that the data wasn't taken from the company, but we're not entirely sure how reassuring that little snippet actually is. Here's what to do if you think your account's been hacked.
