London Gets Dangerous: WWII Bomb Discovered in Spitalfields Market, Fire Hits Old Street and Odysseus Fights off the Cyclops

By Aatif Sulleyman on at

London’s more chaotic than usual today. While wily Odysseus tries to jink his way past the lotus eaters, Laestrygonians, Polyphemus, Sirens, Scylla, Charybdis and all matter of other dangers (tune in here), there’s been a fire in Tech City and an exploded bomb was found in Spitalfields market.

Thankfully, the fire is under control, the Spitalfields bomb has been safely removed and we already know how Odysseus’ tale ends. However, it was chaos for a while. Spitalfields had to be evacuated and cordoned off, with businesses closed as a precautionary measure. The unexploded bomb is believed to have been dropped by ze Germans during World War II, and has now been removed by specialists, so everything's cool.

"The WW2 device found near this #Spitalfields site has been safely removed by @metpoliceuk," tweeted London Fire Brigade this afternoon. All eyes back on Odysseus.
