Samsung Gear VR on Sale For £80, But it's Not the Virtual Reality Headset of Your Dreams

By Aatif Sulleyman on at

Virtual reality is undoubtedly going to play a huge role in the future, and we’re naturally seeing more and more tech companies throw their hats into the ring of innovation, desperate to get an early head start on rivals. Samsung is one such firm, and the South Korean giant has just made its Gear VR headset available to UK consumers.

It’s currently only available online, for a not ridiculous £80, and is compatible with the far-more-expensive Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+ and Note 5. Reviews of the ‘Innovator Edition’ Gear VR -- the developer-targeted model -- were mixed, with testers criticising it for a lack of content and the fact that even super-sharp phone displays aren't good enough for VR, so it’ll be interesting to see if consumers are sold.
