It's 2016 and Mark Zuckerberg's Suddenly Become a Personal Trainer

By Aatif Sulleyman on at

I’m not taking the piss when I say Mark Zuckerberg clearly takes good care of himself. He’s no Cristiano Ronaldo, but he’s in good shape. Last summer, he revealed (while fielding a question from Arnie) that he works out at least three times a week, often with Beast, his dog.

Zuckerberg’s obviously rather proud of his lifestyle, and he’s challenged Facebook users to get off the couch and follow his lead. “I'm going to run 365 miles and I'd love for as many people in this community to join me as possible,” he wrote this morning. “We'll call this year's challenge A Year of Running. I've set up a public group where we can all discuss our running adventures and I'll post periodically on my progress.”

For any keen boasters amongst you, here’s the group. While 365 miles may seem like a lot, a mile a day isn’t very much at all. The challenge is sticking to the routine, especially as running can be so mind-numbingly boring.

Zucks stuck around to respond to his adoring fans, telling Desire Mardelle Booke to “Go for it”, and advising Angela Murray, who recently had back surgery, that walking the 365 miles would work for her. He also revealed that he uses Nike+ to monitor his runs. Even wannabe troll Mick Reinstein, who wrote, “i wish i had all the money in the world and time to run 365 miles [sic],” couldn't dampen the mood, with Zuckerberg responding with a cheeky, “You have one of those things,” accompanied by a smiley face. Boom.
