Small Rebel Force Wants George Lucas to Direct the Next Next Star Wars Movie

By Gary Cutlack on at

Despite seeming to not really like the direction taken by Episode VII, George Lucas should be forced to return to the series by new owner Disney -- because an internet petition says so.

The idea is that this Slave Lucas would be the ideal man to end the series, with whoever started the petition clearly not particularly happy that Colin 'Jurassic World' Trevorrow is currently expected to direct the ninth film in the sci-fi franchise.

The petition says: "We have no problem with Colin Trevorrow, but he's not the right guy to direct Star Wars Episode IX. George Lucas as director of Episode IX would be the perfect way to end this new trilogy and make an epic farewell between the Father of Star Wars and the whole universe of the galaxy far, far away..."

And the petition has been going OK, with over 16,000 people having signed it so far. Although with The Force Awakens about to become the most financially successful film of all time, perhaps messing with the current plans is not the best of ideas. [Den of Geek]
