"Connected Sleeve" is an Actually Nice-looking External Battery

By Gary Cutlack on at

This Connected Sleeve wants to solve the problem that is depressingly utilitarian external phone batteries. It's a battery, inside a case, one that wirelessly charges your phone as soon as you pop it in.

To make things even more futuristic, the case itself is wirelessly chargeable, so you can put your wireless case on a wireless base to charge it, then charge your phone, wirelessly, from within. At least, that's what we think the eventual outcome will be.

The maker explains: "You can recharge The Connected Sleeve wirelessly with electromagnetic induction technology at anytime and anywhere or with the USB port integrated into an elastomer clasp. You only need to slide your smartphone into the sleeve, or put it on top, and the charge will begin after identification. The Connected Sleeve informs about its charge level with a discreet LED and with a BLE -based application."

It's basically a 4,500 mAh battery inside a smart leather case, coupled with an induction element for wireless charging. It's quite the nice thing, and is on Kickstarter for €99 or around £75, and that includes a separate wireless receiver chip needed to make phones without Qi charging (oh, just those Apple ones) compatible. [Kickstarter]
