US company Ideal Conceal has revealed a two-shot, double-barrelled handgun that folds into something that looks a lot like a smartphone. The weapon does a terrifyingly-convincing job of disguising itself too, and police aren’t especially happy about its creation and impending introduction.
“In general, the concept of any kind of weapon that’s disguised, so that it’s not apparent that it’s a weapon, would be cause for concern,” said Bill Johnson, the executive director and general counsel for the National Association of Police Organizations, in response to the .380 calibre handgun’s unveiling.
The US is already plagued by serious issues related to guns, and the Ideal Conceal gun isn't exactly going to help matters. “Ingeniously designed to resemble a smartphone, yet with one click of the safety it opens and is ready to fire,” reads the description on the company website. “No one wants to be in a dreadful situation that may require you to defend yourself with the use of deadly force.
“Yet as the old adage goes: ‘It’s better to have a gun and not need one, than to need a gun and not have one.’ From soccer moms to professionals of every type, this gun allows you the option of not being a victim.”
