£68m Isn't Enough For Daniel Craig to Continue as James Bond, Say Reports

It’s official. Sorry, scratch that, it’s not. We’re still in the land of speculation, but let’s face it, we’ll all be stunned if Daniel Craig ends up making another Bond film.

Fresh reports claim the hunky-but-ageing man has turned down £68 million to star in Bond 25. That’s a lot of money for pretending to beat up bad guys and drive expensive cars and sleep with gorgeous women.

Maybe he wants to do all of those things for real now, without a camera pointed at his mug? Perhaps he’s let himself go and is too embarrassed to tell those execs who insist on more and more topless shots? Maybe he's pursuing a career as a full-time Star Wars extra? Maybe he genuinely doesn't have the time because of that US TV show nobody's heard of.

“Daniel is done – pure and simple – he told top brass at MGM after Spectre,” is what an apparent source told the Daily Mail. “They threw huge amounts of money at him, but it just wasn’t what he wanted. He had told people after shooting that this would be his final outing, but the film company still felt he could come around after Spectre if he was offered a money deal.” Apparently not.

Craig has lashed out at the character in the past, branding 007 a misogynist who’s incapable of teaching us anything useful, and adding that he’d rather slash his wrists than play him again, just for good measure. [DailyMail]
