BlackBerry's Next Phone Doesn't Appear to be a BlackBerry at All

Confusing as it sounds, it appears that BlackBerry’s upcoming handset -- the Hamburg -- will actually be manufactured by a completely different company. Which would sort of make it a non-BlackBerry BlackBerry, as it’s also set to run Android.

TCL Communication, the firm behind Alcatel’s smartphones, is believed to be the manufacturer behind the smartphone. A Wi-Fi Alliance certificate (that’s since disappeared) attributed the model number STH100-2 -- believed to be the Hamburg -- with TCL, causing us all to scratch our heads about what BlackBerry actually does these days.

Design? A bit of security?

The phone itself adds support to the speculation, as it’s rather similar to the Alcatel Idol 4. The Hamburg is expected to feature a 5.2-inch, 1,920 x 1,080 display, a 12-megapixel rear camera and a Snapdragon 615 processor. [Pocket-Lint]
