The man behind the scoffed at concept of the Tetris movie has revealed another element of the production for us all to laugh at -- it's going to be a trilogy. They're going to make three entire films about the tension that arises when trying to make things fit together.
Speaking to Empire, producer Larry Kasanoff confirmed that he wants Tetris to be the top super-franchise of the next few years, explaining this move to make three films is happening "...purely because the story we conceived is so big. This isn’t us splitting the last one of our eight movies in two to wring blood out of the stone. It’s just a big story."
"We’re not going to have blocks with feet running around," he reassures film fans. "...it’s a big science-fiction movie,” Kasanoff added. "I came up with the idea as I was thinking about Tetris and the theme of creating order out of chaos."
So science fiction about sorting things out. EU trade negotiations. People sorted into heaps. Bad ones recycled into food for the good ones. [Empire]
