Alton Towers Needs Roller Coaster Designers!

By Gary Cutlack on at

Merlin Entertainments, the owner of Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and numerous other fun palaces around the world, has a job going. It's after design-minded individuals capable of dreaming up the next generation of things people sit on to get excited.

The permanent job posting for an attraction designer asks for someone with a big imagination, capable of coming up with "...the original, inspiring and compelling concepts that will get visitors flocking to our resorts."

The listing expands on this with: " ...this role is about taking a concept and driving it all the way through to the end; delivering an inspiring attraction that will get visitors rushing through our gates. That’ll mean bringing fresh and creative thinking as you develop the idea into a ‘real world’ design. It’ll mean working closely with a number of internal and external resources to keep everything on track."

Sadly it needs people with confidence, gravitas and communication skills, so I'm out. The successful applicant gets actually paid, some holiday, a free pass to Merlin centres, and best of all, a 40 per cent discount on purchases of Lego, for some odd reciprocal trade reason. [Dezeen]
