The Crystal Maze Joins TV's Nostalgic Reboot List

By Gary Cutlack on at

It can't possibly be 21 years since The Crystal Maze stopped broadcasting, but that's what Wikipedia insists. Hence it's time it made a comeback, as loads of dads will be plonking kids in front of it and telling tales of when it used to be good and when TV used to be important.

The good news is The Crystal Maze will be back this autumn on Channel 4, with a broadcast date of October 4 already set. The bad news is it's a celebrity special in aid of the Stand Up To Cancer charity, so it'll be people off children's TV and lots of models who married footballers stuffing the silver things in the hole and trying to get out of rooms. According to the sources quoted by The Sun, there's going to be a new presenter too. David Tennant is the current favourite to take on the job, although nothing official has been announced by the makers.

And it's not the only Crystal Maze out there. There's the crowd-funded live experience still ongoing in London, where teams of business people bond over challenges, if you want to literally BE in it. [Mirror]
