A demonstration video posted to Twitter by WABetaInfo -- the WhatsApp news and speculation channel you’re all so familiar with -- shows the alleged new feature in the WhatsApp 2.17.1.869 beta build for iOS (we’re expecting Android functionality too) in action.

In the clip, tapping and holding a sent message brings up the ‘Revoke’ option, while another WABetaInfo tweet (below) shows off the apparent editing functionality.

Both options could be used to completely mess with your friends’ heads. Running late for a meetup? Just change the original agreed time. Regret sending those offensive drunken messages? Delete.
If legitimate, they’re features that would almost certainly go down a treat with users, mainly because of the mischief to be had. Time for liars to take over the world. [WABetaInfo via AndroidAuthority]
