There's AI That Can Recognise Skin Cancer

By Gizmodo Australia on at

Getting moles checked is something every person should be doing on a regular basis, and now there's an algorithm to make it even easier.

Created by US scientists, the AI is able to determine whether your mole is actually a skin cancer, from photos.

While the system has yet to be tested in real world conditions, researchers say its potential is enormous - as it could be used to diagnose conditions of the eyes, abnormalities on x-rays, and pathology slides.

They also add that, if installed on mobile phones, it could provide universal access to vital diagnostic care. [Source]
