If you watch a big Hollywood blockbuster in a non-English-speaking country, there's a good chance it'll have been dubbed into the local language – people don't like reading subtitles (especially people seeing Michael Bay films).
A photographer living in Berlin decided to track down the German voice actors behind the big names of cinema – and found that a white man named Engelbert von Nordhausen is Samuel L Jackson. Here he is doing Shaft:
Not quite the same, is it? Then again, his line in Snakes on a Plane would have been something like:
"Ich habe genug mit diesen mütterlichen Schlangen auf diesem motherfucking Flugzeug!"
Given Jackson's recent comments on casting British actors in films about US race relations, we can't imagine he'd be delighted by Germany's choice of alter ego for him.
The other voice actors Jorn Tomter found are equally baffling, with one guy tasked with the not-very-similar-sounding Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Kiefer Sutherland.
Incredibly, the studios don't even trust the people they're using to do the voices – the BBC reports:
[...] in order to prevent piracy, the production company allows the actors to see only a black screen with holes cut out to show the actor's mouth.
What a world. [BBC]
