A New Episode of Only Fools and Horses is Coming - 33 Years After it Was Filmed

By Kim Snaith on at

Filmed way back in 1983, a 'lost' episode of the popular sitcom Only Fools and Horses is finally making its way to TV later this year.

The episode features David Jason as Del Boy and Nicholas Lyndhurst as Rodney up to their usual tricks, and it also features Lennard Pearce as Granddad — the last episode to feature him before the actor passed away in 1984.

Entitled 'Licensed to Drill', it follows one of Del Boy's infamous get rich quick schemes: this time, he buys an oil rig for £400. Unfortunately, there's no oil in Peckham, lads.

While it may have been lost to TV audiences for 33 years, some folks who were at school in the '80s may remember watching it: the episode was a special one-off, produced by the Maureen Oilfield Consortium to be shown in schools to teach kids about crude oil production.

The episode will be aired on UKTV Gold as part of The Story of Only Fools and Horses series. Scenes from 'Licensed to Drill' will appear in the final part of the documentary, which is set to air on 3rd October.

If you can't wait until then, the episode has been available online for some time.
