Legoland Windsor Unveils its Mini Recreation of Windsor Castle, Complete With a Royal Wedding Theme

By Tom Pritchard on at

The Royal Wedding it set to take place at the end of next week, and while many companies seem to be using the opportunity to flog you more stuff Legoland Windsor has taken the opportunity to unveil the latest addition to the Miniland section of the park: Windsor Castle, complete with the royal family in all their wedding-ready gear.

In case you've never been to Legoland and don't already know, Miniland is the area of the park filled with miniature Lego versions of famous landmarks, including the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Billund, and more. The miniature Windsor Castle is obviously a natural fit for the park, seeing as how it's only a few miles away and the fact next Saturday will see the world descend on the landmark to watch two people get married.

The new display is made up of 39,960 pieces of Lego, and took a team of 11 model makers over 592 hours to build. Included in the display is a crowd of royal-loving fans, members of the Queen's Guard, and 10cm-tall versions of the royal family. That includes Harry and Meghan (obviously), William, Kate, their two eldest children, Charles and Camilla, the Queen, and the Duke of Edinburgh.

The new exhibit is currently on display at Legoland Windsor, and will be there until November. So if you weren't invited to the Royal Wedding or you can't make it down to Windsor to stand outside the castle with homemade signs and vuvuzelas, Legoland has the next best option. Plus a whole park filled with other Lego creations that you can check out throughout the day. [Legoland via Mashable]
