The First Footage of Doctor Who's 11th Series Has Leaked

By Tom Pritchard on at

The 11th series of Doctor Who isn't set to debut on the BBC until sometime this Autumn, and in typical BBC style it's been pretty stingy with the amount of footage and information it's going to show us. The good news is that we don't have to wait for footage to be shown to guests at San Diego Comic Con and then not posted online. Well some footage has just leaked, showing us the 13th Doctor in all her Yorkshirey glory.

I would tell you how to find the footage for yourself, but you have Google and it isn't particularly hard to find. Neither are the two leaked images showcasing the Doctor wearing welding goggles and holding what appears to be a very ugly sonic screwdriver. Also Giz UK Editor James told me I couldn't, and because it would no doubt draw in the wrath of the BBC's copyright lawyers I have to begrudgingly admit that he's probably right.

Anyway, the footage isn't a trailer it's a clip of what is clearly the first episode of Series 11. The Doctor is in a deserted train, still in her 12th Doctor getup, with two police officers that we already know will be joining her in the Tardis as travelling companions. We don't see Bradley Walsh, though, so who knows where he might turn up. The key points, though, are the Doctor is clearly going through the usual post-regeneration madness, unable to remember her own name or even what a tongue is called.

She's also gone full Yorkshire, which was to be expected after the casting of Jodie Whittaker, and means the BBC didn't step in to make her sound posh and southern - like they allegedly did with David Tennant.

The Beeb probably won't go ahead and post the proper-quality clip online, so we'll have to wait for BBC America's San Diego Comic Con panel between 19th and 22nd July. We don't know when exactly it is, because the Convention schedule hasn't been released yet.
