It's easy to forget that there's an Aquaman movie arriving at the end of this year. For one we haven't even seen a single trailer, and two most people don't care about Aquaman and consider him a joke character - something Justice League did very little to try and fix. But it's coming in December, and with San Diego Comic Con starting up we have our first look at the film's first tie-in Lego set.
Black Manta Strike will be available on 1st August with a £30 price tag. That doesn't seem too bad, considering what you get for that price, especially with Black Manta's mini-submarine.
As you can see you get Aquaman, Mera (with water blast projectiles), Black Manta and sword, his heavily armed submarine, and a shark that seemingly attaches to that plant to make it look like it's swimming around. Here's the official description from Lego:
Join forces with Aquaman and Mera and battle Black Manta for the treasure in LEGO® DC Super Heroes 76095 Aquaman: Black Manta Strike, featuring Black Manta’s submarine, with an opening minifigure cockpit, 2 spring-loaded shooters, 6-stud rapid shooter and 2 engines. This set also includes a buildable underwater scene with 2 detachable treasure elements, 3 minifigures with trident, sword and Power Blast weapons, plus a shark figure to role-play battles from the Aquaman movie and create your own Atlantis adventures.
There's no word on whether we'll be getting any more Aquaman themed sets, but my guess is there won't be many. The DCEU films haven't had as many tie-in sets (Justice League had three, not counting Brickheadz), and the second-tier films generally don't get much attention. Wonder Woman, Ant-Man, and its sequel on had a single set apiece, whereas Infinity War had six. Seven if you include the Age of Ultron Hulkbuster that arrived at the same time. But with a release date that close, and San Diego Comic Con officially kicking off tomorrow, we don't have long to wait and see.
