Earlier this week was Amazon's biggest ever Prime Day – a 36-hour extravaganza where the online retail giant rolled out discounts on thousands of items. It comes as no surprise to learn that this year's Prime Day was Amazon's busiest day of the year so far, with millions of items being sold.
In a press release, Amazon has shared some detail on its best-selling items and categories. The single best-selling Amazon device was the Echo Dot, which was reduced from £50 to £30. (If you missed out it's still on offer, for £35.) Amazon's Fire TV Stick also sold well, and other individual items of note include Finish dishwasher tablets, The Greatest Showman on DVD.... and Andrex Supreme Quilts toilet paper. What exciting purchases!
In total, over half a million toys were sold during Prime Day. 400,000 beauty products were sold, along with 190,000 pet products, 248,000 garden items and 287,000 items of clothing. The most popular categories were electronics, fitness, outdoors and entertainment. And, er, toilet roll apparently.
