One of entertainer Timmy Mallett's later works is that of the character of an extreme cyclist, with the TV star taking to his bike to raise funds for charities while completing cycling marathons. Sadly, his current ride has been stolen while at home in the UK and he's appealing for help.
It shouldn't be too hard to spot should it find its way on to eBay or Gumtree, as Mallet was riding a fairly niche electric bike built by Giant, one with more than 2,500 miles on its clock thanks to being ridden around Europe in memory of the star's late brother. The bike was nicked when Mallet was in a pub in Cookham with friends, and he apparently has CCTV of the perpetrators, so they can expect to be hit by the massive sponge hammer of the law in the near future.
"It's more than just a bike to me. This bike I've cycled with 2,500 miles, halfway across Europe," he told the BBC, adding: "I was on my own and my bike was my best pal along the way, the only thing I could absolutely rely on. I'm devastated to lose something so special."
He's hoping a grown-up fan might know something. And there's a reward, in money as well as feelings. [BBC]
