If you're a BT customer, you'll soon be able to enjoy a better catch-up service of UKTV channels. The telecoms company has just announced a new long-term deal with the UK broadcaster that will allow customers to receive more content on demand, as well as offering some of these in HD for the first time.
UKTV's lineup of 10 channels includes Dave, Gold, W, Alibi and Eden, and all will remain available on BT. Comforting, since UKTV has just had a feud with Virgin which meant Virgin customers lost those channels for a short time. The change, though, comes to the video on demand offerings made by BT and UKTV. More content from these channels will be made available on demand through BT set-top boxes. And, for the first time, select content will be available in high definition.
The update comes as part of BT's plan to offer its customers the widest possible selection of on-demand content. It follows BT's addition of Amazon Prime Video earlier this summer. For customers that use the BT TV app on their smartphones or devices, there'll also be a selection of content that's downloadable to watch on the go.
There's no set date as to when the improved on-demand services will roll out – it's just "soon".
