Aldi's Popular 3D Printer is Back

By Holly Brockwell on at

This time last year, discount grocery chain Aldi launched a £300 3D printer. It was immensely popular, selling out entirely and causing enough demand that the company is bringing in reinforcements this year.

The 3D printer will once again cost £299.99, and it'll be available to buy online from the 22nd of November (the day before Black Friday), though you can preorder it from today.

Though they haven't given exact figures, the bargain-hunters at Aldi have promised that there'll be 200% more stock this year to avoid disappointing people who want a (relatively) cheap way to make their own stuff.

However, you still need to be quick, because they've made a point of saying "as with all Specialbuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone." ('Til next year, presumably).

The specific printer on sale is the Balco 3D Printer Touch, which has a printing area of 200 x 200 x 180mm and supports various types of printing filaments including ABS, PLA and speciality types. It has a touchscreen LCD, heated bed (to help filaments adhere better), a steel frame and the ability to print directly from SD cards.

If you want one, here's where you order. Happy printing.
