Remember when John Lewis was called John Lewis? It recently rebranded to 'John Lewis & Partners,' and it now looks like it's had another name change, as the Oxford Street flagship has been spotted bearing just the word 'John.'
John Lewis Oxford Street has changed their sign to read just 'John'. Could be related to the rumour that Elton John will star in their new Christmas ad... pic.twitter.com/vaLSaiH8fL

As Michael (who works at a media agency, so likely has some inside info here) mentions, the rumour is that Elton John will be heading up the annual John Lewis Christmas Cry-along, which would explain the move. Sort of.
The Elton ad allegedly leaked earlier this month, but that turned out to be a hoax by Chris Moyles:
So we're still waiting for the actual ad, which will no doubt include buckets of emotion and some not-at-all-cynical plugs for merchandise to soothe the feels.
The changing sign is a strong hint that the ad is coming very soon, so prepare your tissues – and your wallet. [Metro]
