Smartphone brand OnePlus has announced it's collaborating with McLaren on an as-yet-unannounced project, although we're pretty sure we already know.
The collab will launch at 9.30am on the 11th of December at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, and is called Salute To Speed.
Given the nature of the two companies, OnePlus's repeated marketing messages around the speed of its phones, and the propensity for phone manufacturers to release car-branded phones for some reason (see the BlackBerry Porsche, Mate 20 Porsche, Vertu's Bentley-branded handset, and so on), we're guessing it's one of those.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau tells us nothing:
"McLaren and OnePlus were born in a similar way - with a big dream to create something special. Starting from nothing, we challenged ourselves to never settle. Today we unveil a true testament to innovation, a salute to speed."
Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, also tells us nothing but in more words:
"The OnePlus brand is synonymous with speed and power, two values that McLaren likewise strives to deliver with every car we build. Bringing together the inventive, pioneering spirit shared by both OnePlus and McLaren is a firm statement of intent to leverage our collective powers and break new ground for innovative ideas and technology."
If you like this kind of vague, branded inspirational nonsense, there's more of it on one of those annoying side-scrolling websites here.
We'll be back on the 11th of December with an update on the pretty-damn-likely McLaren OnePlus 6T.
