If you're not already psyched for Chinese superbrand Xiaomi's launch into the UK this Thursday, this should get you there. They've announced their rival to Apple AirPods, called AirDots (subtle), and they cost.... 199 Yuan. That's about £22.
(Hope you've got good contrast on your display, because the images are whiter than a Silicon Valley boardroom):
Currently, they're only available in China, but we're hoping against hope that they'll be one of the products that makes it to these shores later this week.
AirDots only come in white (obvs), and the case is the wireless charger for them. Like the rumoured new Apple AirPods, they have Bluetooth 5.0, which is good news for battery stamina. However, don't expect any bells and whistles like water resistance, noise cancellation, "Hey Siri," or Apple-level build quality. After all, you're looking at a saving of around £135 on the Apple version, and that's going to involve some sacrifices.
Xiaomi AirPods don't look amazing in the official photos, but honestly once they're on your ears and people are a few feet away, who's going to notice? If you're not entirely convinced about wireless earphones, or worried you'll lose one, this might be a good pair to start out with.
Now we just have to wait and see if we'll be blessed with them in the UK, and whether they'll still be cheap in pounds.
What do you reckon? Will you get a pair if they get a UK release? Let us know in the comments. [Engadget]
