The new Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, with its super-cool slide-out camera (to avoid the notch, natch) sold out in under half an hour, partly thanks to the early bird discount the company offered.
Well, they've decided to be kind and extend the discount so more of us can get a bargain slider, and not the crappy tiny-hamburger type.
The phone sold out on the 16th of January, but from midday this Friday (25th January), it'll be back at the discount price of £449 instead of £499. That's for the 6GB + 128GB version, which is available in Sapphire Blue or Onyx Black.
Xiaomi UK Sales and Marketing Director Wilkin Lee slides up to comment:
"The response to the Mi MIX 3 has been hugely positive in the UK. With limited stocks available and due to high demand with Mi Fans, we will be running a further deal beginning on the 25th January."
Adding moving parts to a phone is always a bit of a concern, because of the worry they'll succumb to mechanical failure over time, or just break when you try to slide too hard because you're drunk and really need a dancefloor selfie. But Xiaomi claims its neodymium magnetic sliding mechanism has a life expectancy of 300,000 cycles, and finishes the slide for you with a satisfying 'snap' so you don't push too hard and break it (in theory).
The hidden camera allows for a bigger screen: a 6.39-inch, 2340 x 1080 FHD+ Samsung AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 in this case. The bezels are pretty small, with a screen-to-body ratio of 93.4% when closed.
