It doesn't matter whether you think you want a foldable phone or not, because the mobile industry has decided they're the next big thing. So much so that it means damn near all of them will have one on show at MWC at the end of the month. Well all the big names will have to compete with yet another, this time coming from ZTE subsidiary Nubia.
You may remember ZTE as the company that released a folding phone last year. The only key difference was that it was a dual-display phone with hinge in the middle, and as such there was a hefty gap between both displays.
Obviously that kind of folding phone didn't really go anywhere, which is why we're on the verge of being swamped with the ones with foldable glass displays. Nubia will be joining them, judging from a tease posted on social media. It doesn't really take a genius to figure out what this is all about.
Nubia is a brand that's yet to make it here in the UK, but ZTE devices have been available if you know where to look. The Axon M was supposed to be arriving in the UK last year via Vodafone, but it doesn't look like it ever materialised. It's not available right now, at any rate. Whether Nubia's foldable device makes it here has yet to be revealed, but we can hope. After all foldable phones aren't set to be cheap, and it's nice for all the early adopters to have options.
Meanwhile the rest of us can sit back and patiently see whether they're worth it, and how long it takes for the prices to go down. [Android Community]
