According to iD Mobile -- Carphone Warehouse's own phone network -- more than a quarter of mobile phone users go over their data allowance every month. Which might explain why our price per MB average is so high.
To help out people on its network who might go over, iD has announced a 'data boost event', in which you can grab up to 50GB of extra allowance across a range of phones including the Samsung Galaxy S10.
It's a decently clever idea: the deals add a 'pot' of extra data to your plan that you can dip into anytime. It automatically kicks in if you go over your allowance, which is nice. It doesn't seem to include existing customers, though, which is not so nice.
The 50GB data boost is offered on all three of the Samsung Galaxy S10 handsets, starting at £34.99 a month. It's also on the iPhone 8 and iPhone XR (from £28.99 a month) and the Pixel 3 and 3XL from £25.99 a month. You've got until midnight on the 25th of March to grab the deals.
Adam Dunlop, Managing Director of iD Mobile, comments:
"A customer’s data usage can fluctuate month-to-month and it’s sometimes hard for customers to gauge how much data they require. We understand that their mobile lives can be unexpected, and we hope that Data Boost can reassure customers that we’ve got their back when those unexpected moments occur, with extra data, on us, to help them out."
How 'bout helping your existing customers out with the same deal then, eh?
