Amazon's New Light-Up Kindle Costs Just £70

By Holly Brockwell on at

Amazon's just unveiled its latest Kindle, and it's a bit of a bargain.

At £69.99, the new Kindle is the first model with an adjustable light for under £100. The design's been updated to make it thinner, lighter and more comfortable to hold, and the screen has new e-ink tech to make it easier to read.

Eric Saarnio, Head of Amazon Devices, Europe explains the new design:

"Customers consistently tell us how much they appreciate having a front light on Kindle devices so they can read in any environment – even in bed at night.

The team worked hard to bring this customer-favourite feature to our most affordable device, and we’re excited to introduce the all-new Kindle – the first Kindle under £100 with a built-in adjustable front light."

The new model only comes in black and white, but the fabric official cover is also available in Cobalt Blue and Punch Red (yikes) for £24.99.

The latest model doesn't have a specific name to distinguish it from previous editions, which makes it a bit of a pain to search for, but it's available for preorder now from this page of the Amazon website.

The new Kindle will ship on the 10th of April, when it'll also be available from Argos, Dixons, John Lewis, Littlewoods and Very.
