The final of the Red Bull Escape Room World Championships is coming to London on the 13th of April, where crazy people from 23 different countries will willingly allow themselves to be locked in a room so they can get out again.
If extraterrestrials happen to find Earth on that day, it's safe to say they won't be coming back.
The pinnacle of escape room difficulty at the final is called Omni's Escape, and the first people out of it will be crowned world champions.
Omni's Escape is "hacker-themed" and "features a rogue AI called Omni – there’ll be lasers, moving platforms and loads of mind-boggling logic puzzles." Not your grandma's escape room, then ("we used to call them dungeons in them days of course.")
Slightly harshly, the finalists will be tackling Omni's Escape between 9am and 11am on the 13th. I don't know about you, but I can't even tackle my breakfast at 9am. Still, they'll no doubt be amped up on Red Bull, which should help.
Qualifiers for the finals took place in 23 countries around the world, then there'll be three ten-minute challenges to decide the semi-finalists on the 12th, and the two teams that come out top will go on to the finals. Good luck getting out of the room you put yourselves in, folks.
