Morrisons is Selling Rare Double-Yolk Eggs for Easter

By Holly Brockwell on at

It's almost the national chocolate holiday that is Easter, and Morrisons have decided to treat those of us who haven't yet gone vegan with four-packs of double-yolk eggs. That's eight yolks, fact fans!

Double-yolkers are really rare – about one egg in 1,000. To find four in a four-pack would be pretty much unheard of, except of course in this special-edition set.

The double-yolkers are found by holding them up to the egg equivalent of a crystal ball – a high-powered lamp that lets you see through the shell to the shadow of two tasty yolks.

The special eggs – which are thankfully free range – are available from 11 Morrisons stores from today, costing £1.50 a pack. That's 37.5p per egg, but only about 19p per yolk. Barg.

The 11 stores are:

  • Aldershot
  • Bradford Enterprise 5
  • Camden Town
  • Chingford
  • Erith
  • Failsworth
  • Harrow
  • Maidstone
  • Plymstock
  • Preston Riversway
  • Redditch

However, because they're rare as hen's teeth, there are only 1,000 packs in the country, so you'll need to be quick if you want to be one of the double yolk folk.

No cheating and posting your "miraculous" four pack of double-yolkers on Reddit and pretending it happened by chance, though.
