Morrisons Now Has Vegan Mozzarella Sticks

By Holly Brockwell on at

Veganism has hit critical mass and all the supermarkets are stepping up their efforts to provide plant-based food to grab a piece of that sweet vegan pound.

To that end, Morrisons has just launched vegan mozzarella dippers, which is amazing news for both cows and people who love mozzarella dippers (that's everyone, then).

The dippers were inspired by research showing vegans miss cheese the most (ain't that the truth) — not just because it's delicious, but also because a lot of the alternatives just aren't very nice. Hopefully the new V Taste No Moo-zarella Sticks (honestly, they tried too hard with the pun and it doesn't really work) are the exception.

They're made from a mix of coconut oil and potato starch, covered in breadcrumbs. Whether it'll 'melt' in the way mozzarella remains to be seen, but that's one of the things that hasn't worked well on other vegan cheese products.

Morrisons Party Food Buyer Oliver Smith comments between bites:

"We know a lot of our vegan customers really miss cheese and that their options are often limited at family buffets. This is why we’ve taken a classic cheesy party food that everyone knows and loves and made it vegan."

The No Moo-zarella Sticks cost £2.50 for 8 and are available at most Morrisons stores now, although we can't see them on the website yet. If you've tried them, do let us know in the comments — we're fascinated.
