Looks Like We're Getting Three Versions of the OnePlus 7

By Holly Brockwell on at

We've already seen quite a few leaks of the upcoming OnePlus 7, and now it looks like there'll be three phones to enjoy rather than just one.

Serial leaker Ishan Agarwal tweeted model numbers for three phones, which apparently correspond to the OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro 5G.

Agarwal's tweet included a previously leaked image from Weibo, which includes a picture of the OnePlus 6T. Agarwal says the image is a placeholder in the prototype software and will be updated before launch.

We can also see some information about the phone in the leaked image, specifically that it runs on the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and has software based on Android 9 (Pie). The image also mentions a treble camera (as previously leaked) with 48, 16 and 8MP sensors, and a 6.67-inch 'super optic' display (presumably OLED).

If the model numbers are correct, there'll be three variants of the phone itself -- the standard OnePlus 7, an upgraded OnePlus 7 Pro and a OnePlus 7 Pro with the addition of 5G, for the early adopter types. Within that, it looks like there'll be three versions of the OnePlus 7 and four of the OnePlus 7 Pro, and just one format of the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G.

Speculation has already begun as to what specs the model codes could denote:

The phone in the image has no notch or punch-hole, which lines up with previous leaks showing a pop-up selfie camera on the OnePlus 7.

As ever, the one thing we really want to know and never find out from leaks is how much the OnePlus 7 and its variants are going to cost. Will the 7 Pro 5G cost an arm and a leg, as we suspect it will? OnePlus tends to launch its phones in May, so not long now to find out. [Trusted Reviews]
