The fact that Sky offers Now TV-branded broadband was news to most of us here at Giz UK, if we're being totally honest. But while you might think it's no different to Sky's regular internet offerings, there are a few key differences you may want to consider if you're in the market for a new internet service provider. Currently one of the big ones is that signing up will net you a free six month Now TV Entertainment Pass.
If you sign up to one of the three internet packages offered by Now Broadband before 7th May, you can get the free pass which gives you all the access associated with Now TV's entertainment package. Of course this is reliant on you switching to a new broadband provider first, which is a bit of a hassle, but it might be worth looking into if you need a new connection and fancy paying as little as possible for legal access to Game of Thrones' eighth season.
The cheapest package is £18 a month for an 11Mb broadband connection, which is the same price as the Sky-branded base package. That said Now offers a 12 month contract at that price, while Sky insists you sign up for 18. Now will also let you go contract free if you fancy it, but that involves paying £60 up front and hardly makes it the most cost-effective way to watch Jon Snow flaunt his ignorance. 11Mb speeds aren't the best, but at the same time Now TV is locked in at 720p and that's not the most taxing video resolution. It doesn't look great on big screens though.
The top-tier package, which is 62.9+Mbps is more expensive than Sky's equivalent, costing £30 a month instead of £27, but again that comes on the same 12 month contract instead of 18. If that's a bit much for you, then there is the added bonus of a mid-tier fibre package (36-37Mbps) that isn't offered by Sky proper, at £25 a month. Same contract rules apply.
It's not the most fantastic deal in the world, there's no denying that, but if you have the urge to watch all of Game of Thrones this deal gives you plenty of time to get through it all. All without breaking the law. You can take advantage of the deal here.
