Today is the day that OnePlus will officially lift the curtain around its 7 series smartphones. If you've been waiting with bated breath ever since co-founder and CEO of OnePlus, Pete Lau, teased the unveiling last week, here's how, where, and when you can watch it.
The company is holding reveal events across the globe today to debut the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro that will take place simultaneously – including the likes of New York, Bangalore, and London's Printworks. While anybody could buy a reasonably priced £16 ticket to park their bums on seats, ready to whoop and holler at a phone taking the stage like some pop star I've never heard of at a trendy venue I'd never get into, they sold out pretty quickly. Happily, there are cheaper and easier ways to ways to watch the event live that come with added benefits, like sitting on your sofa in your underpants, and seeing how efficiently your bloated stomach can mimic being a table for your snacks.
You can tune into the livestream on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter when it kicks off at 4pm. Or you can just bookmark this page and watch along with us when it goes live. Be sure to arbitrarily refresh this page at intervals in the run up to the event.
There have been a number of leaks around the OnePlus 7 series already, including packaging, colourways, specs and pricing, with the latest news indicating that we'll see another price hike for the smartphones.
Based on the rumours swirling around, the two phones will feature a QHD OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, which is higher than the 60Hz we usually see on smartphones. Higher refresh rates can be found on gaming phones like the Razer Phone 2 and Asus ROG where it actually matters, suggesting that OnePlus could be setting its sights on capturing a tasty little slice of that market.
The company's official Twitter account was also touting the new phones' displays in a tweet earlier, saying they're the "greatest display on our best device ever!"
Later this week, thirsty consumers will have the chance to buy the OnePlus 7 Pro at pop-up events the world over, with the sole UK location being John Lewis on Oxford Street in London.
