Poundland's New £2 Meal Deal is the Best Value on the High Street – But Not the Healthiest

By Shabana Arif on at

The supplier of £1 engagement rings and saviour of the Toblerone has rolled out a range of eight sandwiches for its new meal deal offer which'll bag you crisps and a chocolate bar, alongside your drink.

While coming in at around a quid cheaper than meal deals at the likes of Boots, Sainsbury's, Tesco, and M&S, and netting you two snack items instead of the typical one, Poundland's meal deals aren't the most nutritious option, but it's amongst the cheapest.

For just £2 you can pick up a sandwich, crisps, chocolate, and a drink - a deal that's only bested by B&M's £1.75 meal deal, although that only includes a single snack.

When it comes to the sandwiches, customers can choose from the following:

  • BLT
  • Cheese and onion
  • Chicken and bacon
  • Chicken salad
  • Egg mayo
  • Ham and cheese
  • Tuna and sweetcorn
  • Egg and bacon
  • Chicken and stuffing

Crisp choices include Quavers, Real cheese and onion, Real salt and malt vinegar, and Real sea salt. Snickers, Mars, Bounty, Topic, and Twix are your dessert options. The drinks list is far more extensive and features:

  • 7Up Free (330ml)
  • Barr Bubblegum (330ml)
  • Barr Cream Soda (330ml)
  • Barr Pineapple (330ml)
  • Irn Bru (330ml)
  • Old Jamacia Ginger Beer (330ml)
  • P/Land still water (500ml)
  • Pepsi Diet (250ml)
  • Pepsi Max (250ml)
  • Pepsi Max Cherry (250ml)
  • R Whites Lemonade (330ml)
  • Tango Cherry (330ml)
  • Tango Orange (330ml)
  • Tango Strawberry (330ml)
  • Tango Tropical (330ml)
  • Vimto Original (330ml

Poundland plans to expand the range in the future, and British Baker magazine reports that the new meal deal selection will roll out alongside 22 other new product lines including fresh fruit, and Dairylea Lunchables. [The Sun]
