Tesco is continuing to celebrate its 100th anniversary with a new campaign featuring British TV personalities and characters that graced our big boxy televisions some decades and decades ago. The inexorable hands of time will smother everyone, but Tesco will outlive us all. Also there are some banging discounts on household essentials.
"Our deals event to celebrate our 100th anniversary was extremely popular in January, so we wanted to help our customers by bringing it back and making it bigger and better to mark the start of the summer season,” says Alessandra Bellini, chief customer officer, via Marketing Week.
The January festivities being referred to included the ever-terrifying Mr. Blobby who could give Freddy Krueger a run for his money in the nightmares department.
You can get a huge hit of nostalgia by watching the 30 second ad below that features Mr. Motivator, Anneka Rice from her Treasure Hunt days, Morph and Chas, and other cameos from people I'm too forgetful or young to recognise. Please god, let it be the latter.

As well as the advertised discounts, there are additional details for Clubcard customers.
Earlier this year, Tesco trialled refillable packaging and in a bold move in March, the supermarket confronted customers with naked fruit and veg to cut down on plastic usage.
