EE has announced its partnership with OnePlus that will see the service provider bring the newly announced OnePlus 7 Pro 5G to its customers. The news comes straight from the OnePlus event in London.
The company hasn't specified a date for when it expects its 5G network to go live, unlike Vodafone who confirmed that its customers will be getting 5G on July 3. EE's 5G network will first roll out in London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Birmingham and Manchester "very very soon," with 10 more cities to follow: Glasgow, Newcastle, Liverpool, Leeds, Hull, Sheffield, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry and Bristol.
To mark the occasion, EE is is upgrading 100 of its OnePlus 6T customers to the new OnePlus 7 Pro 5G and 5G plan for free. During the livestream, it was stated that those customers would be the first 50 who had signed up for the OnePlus 6T when it launched, and the offer was then extended to include an additional 50 customers.
"5G will provide a new era in connectivity on the move, giving customers the best mobile experience they’ve ever had, and opening up a whole new world of connected possibilities from AR to high definition video and gaming," said Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s Consumer division – EE's parent company.
"We’re working with OnePlus, which – like EE – is a pioneer in its field, to exclusively offer the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G to our customers. Through our partnership, these customers will be there on the first steps of the UK’s amazing 5G journey."
