7,700 people who still actually walk to the shops, buy things in person then carry them home like they're brave hunters coming back to the village with a warm deer carcass, were asked for their opinions about the state of the shops down there. They came to largely the same conclusion – WHSmith is literally the worst.
WHSmith was found to hit the sweet spot that sits between being scruffy, stocking useless items, employing rude staff and offering its ranges at massively inflated RRPs according to shoppers surveyed by Which?, putting the chain in 109th and bottom place on the list of known high street brands. Homebase beat it. Sports Direct beat it. Peacocks beat it. Clinton Cards even beat it.
Rather pleasingly, Richer Sounds sits atop the survey, which is more good news for staff about to receive a fortunate cash windfall. Outdoor specialist Rohan is in second place, ahead of aspirational dream weekly shop destination John Lewis. [Which?]
