If you had your eye on a new Huawei smartphone but have been put off since the trade ban, all is not lost. Android Q is making its way to Huawei handsets after all.

While the updates to existing Huawei devices has already been confirmed, it'll be good news for anyone who's already bought - or was thinking of buying - one of Huawei's "current devices". The company tweeted out a statement confirming that Android Q will be coming to its P30 series as well as the Mate 20 Pro.

Huawei talks about putting its customers first, regardless of the "challenges" it faces, before reassuring customers that they'll continue to get Android updates on their devices.

"Our most popular current devices, including the P30 series, will be able to access Android Q. In fact, we have already launched a beta developer programme for Android Q which is running right now on our Mate 20 Pro device," it explains, before adding a link to its website that addresses a number "common points of confusion and rumours".

The site includes a list of all of the devices that have been "submitted to upgrade to Android Q" that the company is "confident" will get a pass.
